9.29.20

It's Tuesday (DEBATE DAY!!!). There are 35 days until the presidential election. Donald Trump really doesn't give a fuck about your kids, how Trump suppressed the Black vote in 2016 and Fauci breaks with the White House.

Note: Hot damn! We love a debate day! It is American democracy in action, or what's left of it, and we are pretty fucking excited. Who doesn't love a high stakes gauntlet that could go sideways and ruin our lives and our country forever? We kid. Joe has got this, and we have faith in him. Anyway, be sure to tune in tonight as Joe Biden and the orange sweat monster who wants to fuck his own daughter go toe to toe in the mistake by the lake. While we're pacing nervously today, we want to congratulate the Lincoln Project on launching their new newsletter. It's always nice to have imitators even if they are Republicans. The newsletter world is vast, and we always welcome more of them, even if this particular newsletter is pro-Kavanaugh and just waiting to turn its guns on Democrats the second we're not conservative enough for them. Yeah, that's worse than Politico Playbook turfing our moms' yards and getting kids hooked on bath salts. Anyhoo, we've shown off our insecurities enough this morning, so let's get to it.

Note two: We are really slipping. Yesterday was the birthday of Stevie Wonder's "Songs in the Key of Life" and we totally missed it. Our bad. Here's the full album… More: YouTube

Note three: Yesterday we declined to take a shot at former campaign manager Brad Parscale because he was said to be suicidal. Then we found out he was leaving bruises on his wife. So fuck that guy. Fuck him with a rusty shovel. Corey Lewandowski, Rob Porter, Jason Miller and now Parscale. Trump certainly has a type. Isn't it weird how the White House press corps doesn't ever ask about this shit? More: Politico, Washington Post

Note four: Congratulations to Susan Glasser and Peter Baker on their new book about Jim Baker. It really is astounding how devoted this couple is to kissing Republican ass.

Note five: Rudy Giuliani was on Fox and Friends this morning accusing Biden of having dementia. He was wearing one of his shoes on his head and constructing a moustache out of his own poop at the time. You know one thing we find interesting about Joe Biden? He has never fucked his own cousin.

Note six: Joe is hitting the road!!! For all those armchair strategists who talked to reporters about how Joe should be more like Trump and campaign more despite the deadly pandemic, here you go, you goddamn bed-wetters. More: Washington Post More: Washington Post

Note seven: Oh look, more Americans Trump makes fun of. More: The Atlantic

Note eight: Don't ever forget that Facebook is hot fucking garbage and Mark Zuckerberg is just Lindsey Graham with more money. More: Axios

Note nine: Did you know that people like you have given more than $300 million to Democratic candidates and causes since RBG passed? You people are freaking amazing. Thanks for the hope.

Note 10: Looks like Mitch's protege in Kentucky got busted covering shit up. We're stunned that McConnell would mentor such a lying scumbag. More: Courier Journal

Note 11: Do you live in a Blue State but want to help in the battlegrounds? More: Volunteers Win Elections

Note 12: We could keep going, but it's debate day so we have some nervous pacing to do. Monmouth found that 74 percent of voters are tuning in tonight. So people are engaged. And that's a good thing. The Fox crowd is gonna learn a lot of shit tonight they've neve heard before. Fuck him up, Joe. We love y'all. Have a great day, and we'll see you back here tomorrow.

We don't need no education

The NYT, which really gets on a roll when it's not their gossip reporters taking the lead, has another bombshell about the Trump White House trying to pressure the CDC to change guidance so that schools would open. They asked officials to play down the fucking risks of a fucking deadly virus. They looked for alternate data to make it seem safer. Oh and Birx was in on this shit. This is how far we have fallen as a country. This should be a presidency-ending scandal, and you can barely find anyone talking about it this morning. More: New York Times

"Deterrence"

Britain's Channel Four has a huge document dump that lays out how Trump's campaign sought to keep 3.5 million Black voters at home during the 2016 election. The overall files obtained by the news channel contain detailed profiles on 200 million voters, and Black voters were marked for "deterrence." Facebook helped them do all of this. And it worked. As we all know Black turnout was down in 2016. Again, this should be a huge fucking story, but America and our political media are just broken. More: Channel4, The Daily Beast

Git 'em, Fauc

We call him Fauc. It rhymes with pouch, and we think it's endearing. Also, we are totally freaked the fuck out that he's having to go on CNN to say that Trump is using bullshit information from a bullshit doctor. Weren't we supposed to freak out when we got to this inevitable point? Trump made another Rose Garden announcement about testing yesterday and none of the actual experts were there. But we did hear from Dr. Fox McDumbfuck and Mike Pence who both said cases are about to go up. Yeah, assholes, because seven months later you fuck ups still don't have any kind of national strategy. What a goddamn disaster. More: CNN

Today's clips

In a meandering press conference on Sunday, President Donald Trump repeatedly accused his Democratic opponent's son, Hunter Biden, of receiving millions of dollars from the wife of Moscow's late mayor Yury Luzhkov, asking why "nobody even has any question about it."

But Trump himself sought to do business with Luzhkov's government in the late 1990s, according to press reports from the time, SEC filings and comments made by Luzhkov last year. His attempts to build an underground mall in Moscow and renovate two major hotels there were part of a broader push to secure high-profile real-estate deals in Russia, which Trump was still pursuing as recently as 2016 with a proposal for a Trump Tower Moscow.

The Trump administration has asked the military to assess how quickly it could pull nuclear weapons out of storage and load them onto bombers and submarines if an arms control treaty with Russia is allowed to expire in February, according to three people familiar with the discussions.

Revelations that President Donald Trump is personally liable for more than $400 million in debt are casting a shadow over his presidency that ethics experts say raises national security concerns he could be manipulated to sway U.S. policy by organizations or individuals he's indebted to.

The prosecution of Michael Flynn. A Senate investigation into the provenance of the Steele Dossier. The nascent federal probe of discarded absentee ballots in Pennsylvania.

In recent days, the Justice Department has declassified or disclosed sensitive materials related to each of these proceedings that, on the surface, have little to do with each other. Yet within hours, President Donald Trump had weaponized each to boost his reelection campaign.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Monday called a report that President Donald Trump has more than $300 million in loans coming due in the next few years a "national security issue" and argued it raises questions about whether foreign nations or individuals could have "leverage" over the president.
